On October 31, Adam Zimmer, an offensive analyst with the Cincinnati Bengals and the son of former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike, passed away. At the time, nothing was revealed about his death, but it was a shock to find that the 38-year-old coach had died. The coach spent time with the Vikings, Bengals and the New Orleans Saints, with whom he won a Super Bowl.

How did Adam Zimmer die?

Until now, details surrounding the mysterious death have been kept quiet. Now, according to Fox News, court documents reveal that police were called to his house. They found him unconscious with bruising and blood pooling around his eye.

He was reportedly rendered unconscious from heavy alcohol consumption. The official cause of death has not yet been released, but officials do not suspect foul play.


Family, friends mourned the loss of Adam Zimmer

Bengals owner Mike Brown released a statement honoring the coach and his family:

"Our organization has had the privilege of working with the Zimmer family for 15 years. We have the highest regard for Mike and Adam, and we are incredibly saddened by this tragic news. Mike and Adam were more than just coaches for us — they were friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zimmer family at this time."

His sister, Cori, also posted a long and heartfelt message on Instagram, where she asked for prayers for the family:

"His support and love for me was SO big and I hope he knew how much I loved him. In the last year he told me countless times how he loved watching me be a mom and how proud he was of me."

She added:

"Please pray for our family as we try to navigate through this. Lord, we need your strength now more than ever. Please don’t let us lose faith. Adam, I love you so much and I will miss you every second of every day until I see you again. Please watch over us and help us be okay."

The Bengals have gone 1-1 in the wake of their former coach's passing and will look to dedicate their season to his memory.
