"I was just emotional": Jets' DJ Reed apologizes for dropping F-bomb against NFL referees

DJ Reed was not happy with the officials after the New York Jets' 26-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The Jets are 3-9 and on a three-game losing streak.

After the game, he made his feelings clear. He took to X with a now-deleted post criticizing the referees for their calls.

“@NFLOfficiating you f***ing suck, yall should be ashamed of yall selves.!” Reed tweeted.

The cornerback felt that the Jets being flagged 12 times, which included a holding call against him, was unfair. The Jets were also slapped with four penalties on the fourth-quarter drive of the Seahawks which sealed the game.

However, Reed has now apologized for his scathing remarks against the officials.

“I was just emotional,” Reed said on Wednesday, via the New York Post. “I definitely shouldn’t have said that, but I’m a human. It was a frustrating game that I thought we should’ve won but we ended up losing.”

Reed added that the officials were just trying their best to make complex decisions like he tries to play to the best of his abilities. He also said that even though some calls may seem debatable, he was willing to cut them some slack.

"Having time to reflect on it, I was in the wrong and I should not have said that," Reed said.

After DJ Reed, Jets interim HC Jeff Ulbrich reflects on penalities riddled game

Jets coach Jeff Ulbrich said that he would have to look at the film and watch the penalties called.

“I have to look at every single one of those penalties and see exactly if they’re real,” Ulbrich said.

Ulbrich added that the valid penalties would be thoroughly analyzed to ensure they do not happen again.

The Jets have been plagued with penalties since the start of the season. It was part of the reason why they decided to let go of Robert Saleh, who had earlier alleged a "cadence issue" with veteran QB Aaron Rodgers in October.
