Defensive end J.J. Watt is currently playing for the Arizona Cardinals. Despite having atrial fibrillation on September 28, 2022, he still plays football in the NFL. Earlier this season, Watt had his heart jolted back into a normal rhythm, but that hasn't caused him to miss a game.

Although the 33-year-old has previously suffered from serious injuries, he has always been one of the most highly-rated defensive players in the league.

What happened to J.J. Watt?

In an October 2022 tweet, J.J. Watt disclosed the treatment he had undergone. The Arizona Cardinals star tweeted the following in advance of his details being exposed:

"I have learned that someone leaked some private information about me, and it will be revealed today. My heart was shocked back into rhythm on Thursday after going into A-Fib on Wednesday, and I'm playing today."

All we understand is that clinical practitioners shocked his heart back into its regular pace. The next day, J.J. Watt was declared fit to play and made his 138th regular-season NFL appearance three days later.

He took the field against the Carolina Panthers and was impressive in their 26-16 triumph. He made three tackles and deflected two passes, the second of which led to an interception. Two plays later, Kyler Murray ran into the endzone for a touchdown.

In his NFL career, J.J. Watt has staged several stunning and unlikely comebacks. He battled his way back in Houston from operations to mend a fractured leg, a bruised back, and a broken hand. Watt made a comeback with the Houston Texans after suffering a torn pectoral injury that was meant to end his 2019 season. He worked his way back from what was anticipated to be a season-ending corrective shoulder procedure with the Cardinals last year.

Who is J.J. Watt?

The Houston Texans selected Watt in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft after he played college football for Central Michigan and Wisconsin.

Watt is regarded as one of the best defensive linemen of all time. He was honored three times in his first five seasons with the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award. He holds the franchise record for sacks and forced fumbles for the Texans. Watt was awarded Sportsman of the Year in 2017 by Sports Illustrated.

Watt has endured various injuries over his career and spends his free time giving back to the community. He founded the "Justin J. Watt Foundation," which offers after-school activities for kids. He has also contributed his time to a variety of other charities.
