Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is retiring from football.

But no, bidding the game farewell as a player won’t happen soon. Instead, he will be leaving the game after the 2025 NFL season.

In his recent appearance at Kansas City’s Sports Radio 810 WHB, Hill said:

"I'm gonna finish out this contract with the Dolphins, man, and then I'm gonna call it quits. I want to go into the business side. Yeah [I want to be on the coaching side, too] but not for long, though. I want to do so many things in my life, bro."

Last season, Tyreek Hill signed a four-year, $120 million contract with Miami. The deal made him the highest-paid wide receiver in terms of the annual average value ($30 million). His contract includes $52.535 million in guaranteed money and a $25.5 million signing bonus.

His cap hit will also increase from $12.8 million in 2022 to $31 million in 2023. His current contract puts his career earnings at an estimated $91.8 million. While he mentioned retiring in 2025, his contract with the Dolphins runs until 2026. That year, he will have a base salary of $43.9 million and a cap hit of $56.3 million.

Last month, he converted $14.835 million of his 2023 salary and $10 million of his roster bonus into a signing bonus. Since signing bonuses do not count against a team’s salary cap, that move cleared $8.6 million in cap space for the Dolphins.

Tyreek Hill switched teams after the Kansas City Chiefs facilitated an off-season trade with the Dolphins. In return, the Chiefs received Miami’s 2022 first and second-round picks, a 2023 third-round selection, and two fourth-round picks.

The West Alabama alumnus had a fantastic first year in Miami, finishing with 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns. His contributions helped the Dolphins break a five-year playoff drought. Unfortunately, they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round, 34-31.

Tyreek Hill Reveals Plans After Retirement

“Cheetah” already has some direction on what he will do after football. However, he is already starting to build his post-retirement career while still helping the Dolphins’ cause. He added:

“I really want to get into, like, the gaming space. I really want to get huge into that. That's kind of what I'm doing right now. I'm using my platform creating a gaming team which isn't launched yet. It should launch by the end of this month. Solerunner gaming. I'm gonna just sign like different content creators, different athletes, and I just been working out talking to different sponsors.”

The Chiefs selected Tyreek Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. It didn’t take long before he became one of the league’s premier wideouts. As a punt returner in his rookie year, he became a First Team All-Pro member.

The Georgia native also earned All-Pro distinctions in 2018, 2020, and 2022. He is also a seven-time Pro Bowler and a member of the 2010s NFL All-Decade Team. The Pro Football Writers Association also selected him for their 2016 All-Rookie Team.
