Jason and Travis Kelce address controversial interference call by officials during Chiefs-Bengals Week 2 clash

The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly edged out the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday as the two AFC rivals battled it out. A late call against the Bengals had some NFL fans upset as it gave the Chiefs another opportunity to get into field-goal range.

Jason and Travis Kelce addressed the topic on this week's episode of the "New Heights" podcast. Jason Kelce said that he didn't understand how anyone could see it as controversial because it was an obvious call:

"Whenever you're in a two-minute drill, penalties, sacks like these things are just like crucial that you don't do easier said than done when you're trying to block Trey Hendrickson. But yeah, that one almost killed you guys, and you guys get bailed out of fourth and 16 with 48 seconds left. Pat targets Rashee Rice again, but this time, somebody arrives a little early.

"I don't even know how this is controversial. I really don't. I get that people are frustrated with the officials and the Chiefs, I guess. I mean, you can't run through a receiver's back and check to make a play on the ball."[Timestamp - 36:18]

Travis then echoed Jason's sentiment and said he also felt that it was an obvious call but understood how Bengals fans were upset.

"It's just like on the play before that, you can't put your hands in someone's face while they're rushing. You can't do exactly. It's the same thing. It's hands to the face, and then there's a there's a pass interference, and it is what it is. But yeah, I can see how everybody's upset."

Travis Kelce called out the Kansas City Chiefs offense

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to do something no other team in NFL history has done: win three straight Super Bowl titles. Although Kansas City is 2-0 to start the season, both wins have been sloppy and lacked the offensive dominance they have become well-known for.

On "New Heights" this week, Travis called out the Chiefs offense for not getting the job done. He also credited the defense for keeping them in games.

“I mean, initial thoughts are we got to play better as an offense. I think the defense is playing their a**es off, getting turnovers, finding a way to make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable.” Travis said.

The three-time Super Bowl champion then took full accountability for his own gameplay and what he has to fix.

“I think it starts with making sure you're going with the right mentality. I didn't play my best. It spreads if you don't fix it. So, I got to get that thing fixed, man,” he added. [20:17]

Travis Kelce has been quarterback Patrick Mahomes favorite target throughout the last few seasons. Through the first two weeks of the season, though, he has just four catches for a total of 39 yards.
