Jaylen Waddle fantasy outlook: Is he playing this week?

Miami Dolphins' wide receiver Jaylen Waddle stands questionable for the Week 7 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. Waddle saw a drop in performances since Dolphins' starting QB Tua Tagovailoa left the field due to a concussion in Week 4.

Waddle's severity of the shoulder injury remains unknown and could lead to him missing his first game of the season. Although his status was limited throughout the week, Miami head coach Mike McDaniel is quite confident that Waddle will be playing side-by-side with Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill. For all Dolphins fans, this is good news, as the team's offense will once again be the same as it was in the first four weeks.

Waddle's limited participation throughout the week is mostly a safety measure taken by the team so that he can perform in Sunday's game. It should be safe to start with him this week as he seems in good form and is currently a WR11 in fantasy points per game. Waddle ranks 13th in PFF receiving grade and fifth in yards per route run (minimum 15 targets).

Starting him could be a risk, however, as there is a chance he will see a reduced number of snaps or exacerbate his injury and be removed from the game.

The Miami Dolphins drafted Jaylen Waddle as the sixth overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. In his rookie season, he started in all 16 games he played and covered 1,015 yards with 104 receptions and six touchdowns.

Waddle has started in all six games this season and has 30 receptions for 533 yards and three touchdowns. He hasn't missed a game in the league so far, but his shoulder injury could make him miss a few if the Dolphins don't take the necessary precautions. In 2021, he scored 141 fantasy points, averaging 8.8 fantasy points per game. It would be best to stick with him this season as a WR1 for your fantasy roster.
