The Tennessee Titans decided to release star left tackle Taylor Lewan after almost a decade of contributions to the team, the player announced on his podcast on Wednesday.

Lewan was a first-round pick out of Michigan in 2014 and became an instant starter for the Titans. He was voted into the Pro Bowl three times and anchored the blind side of quarterbacks such as Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill during his stint with the team.

The release had NFL fans stunned, as Lewan was one of the most solid left tackles in the league. According to reports, he's going to decide whether he'll sign with another team for the 2023 season or if he's going to retire from the league.

Fans were shocked to see a player of his caliber being released, despite the Titans being over 25 million in the salary cap for the 2023 season.

Who's Jeffree Star? Why is Taylor Lewan associated with him?

Jeffree Star is an American YouTuber, makeup artist, and former singer-songwriter. He is the founder and owner of Jeffree Star Cosmetics and has been teasing that he had an NFL boyfriend in recent times.

But it was all a PR stunt.

Star's 'NFL boo' was Lewan and the pair recorded a podcast together. Star said in a previous post that while his NFL boo wasn't playing in the Super Bowl, "he plays perfect in the bedroom."

Taylor's podcast, "Bussin With The Boys," was the source of his release by the Titans on Wednesday. The PR stunt was to promote Star's appearance on the podcast. They aren't dating. In fact, the left tackle is married and has daughters.

This is why fans pointed out the "Jeffrey Star curse" once he was released. The duo did a lot of teasing about Star's relationship just to promote a podcast appearance, and days later, Taylor was released.

It's a mystery what the left tackle is going to do now. He clearly has a lot left in the tank and would have many suitors for his services. But after a decade of playing for the same team, he might decide not to move to another place and could just retire and stay in Nashville.
