Jets HC Adam Saleh delivers his verdict on Zach Wilson's future with franchise

Cincinnati Bengals v New York Jets
Zach Wilson has endured a tough season till now

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has had a rather turbulent 2022 season. After starting in decent fashion, the poor offensive displays finally caught up with him. This led to Wilson being benched and Mike White taking over.

The criticism aimed at Wilson due to his now infamous post-game press conference after the 10-3 loss to the New England Patriots was huge. He stated that he didn't feel he let the defense down by scoring just three points.

What are the current Super Bowl odds?

Now, with his future with the franchise under serious scrutiny, head coach Robert Saleh has given the strongest indication yet regarding the quarterback's future.

Saleh said via ESPN.com:

"Zach has all the talent in the world, and we have all the confidence in the world in him. It's just, like I said, a reset. We're going to grind with him. We are. Through hell or high water, we're going to figure how to get him to where we know he can be."

That settles it then, doesn't it? Zach Wilson will be the New York Jets' quarterback in 2023. We do not know how this will be received by the fans who have taken an intense disliking to the quarterback. But one thing is for sure, we will find out on Sunday.

Zach Wilson to be the Jets' starter in 2023?

That seems to be the message from Saleh today. Regardless of how he plays or what transpires in the offseason, Wilson will be with the Jets next season.

The stats don't exactly back that up though. In nine games, Wilson is 5-4 as the starter, has just a 54.5 completion percentage, has thrown for just 1,688 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

That doesn't scream starting NFL quarterback, does it?

Perhaps Saleh sees the potential with his young quarterback. From the outside, none of us really know what kind of progress he has made and what type of teammate he is.

We only see what is put on tape on Sundays. At least there is clarity with Zach Wilson's future and he will be in New York next year. It will be interesting to see exactly what kind of reception he will receive on Sunday.
