Kadarius Toney trade could be tipping point for Patrick Mahomes' explosive Chiefs offense, NFL analyst claims

This week, Patrick Mahomes watched as Kadarius Toney was moved from the east coast to the middle of the country and analysts are reacting to the news. One NFL analyst claimed that Toney could end up being the tipping point for an already explosive offense.

Speaking on ESPN's KJM, Max Kellerman claimed the trade could be a win-win for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Giants. Here's how he put it:

"So you have Kelce, the alpha receiver because you run the passing game through him. But now everywhere you look, there is a fast matchup problem on the field."

He continued, claiming the addition ratchets up the difficulty on opposing defenses:

"[The Chiefs] get a top-20 pick essentially for a third and a six. That works for [them] and it could be a tipping point in their offense. It just makes it that much more difficult. The Giants get rid of a guy they weren't going to use anyway and get some extra draft capital. I think it's a win-win."

In 2021, the Kansas City Chiefs had a much different receiving room than what they have in 2022. Last season, Mahomes had Tyreek Hill leading the room. Mahomes currently has a combination of Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman. Once Kadarius Toney gets up to speed, he will also be in the fray.

Juju Smith-Schuster caught passes from Ben Roethlisberger and served as the No. 1 wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers before the addition of Chase Claypool.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught passes from Aaron Rodgers and served as a compliment to Davante Adams for the Green Bay Packers.

Mecole Hardman has been a percolating second-round pick since his selection in 2019.

The Chiefs are on their bye week in Week 8. In Week 9, however, many expect Toney to make his debut with the team. Will it be a set of exploding fireworks or chirping crickets?
