Kenny Golladay Giants contract: How much salary is WR earning in New York?

In 2021, the New York Giants sought a genuine No. 1 wideout to help Daniel Jones, so they signed Kenny Golladay.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the two parties reached a four-year, $72 million agreement that included guarantees of $40 million. After signing the deal, Golladay became one of the NFL's highest-paid wide receivers.

Golladay earned a $17 million signing bonus apart from his base pay for 2021, and $10 million of his 2022 contract is guaranteed.

Clearly, this kind of cash generated a lot of buzz in the NFL. When the organization acquired Kenny Golladay as an unrestricted free agent, he fell far short of providing the return on investment they had hoped for.

The New York Giants will save $6.7 million on their salary cap by holding off until March 15. Golladay was supposed to count $21.4 million against the cap. He still has a $4.5 million guarantee with the Giants this year.

New York Giants set to release WR Kenny Golladay

Golladay's last season with the Detroit Lions saw him play just five games due to injury, but the Giants still decided to sign him to a four-year, $72 million contract with $28 million in guaranteed money.

As per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Kenny Golladay will be cut by the Giants on March 15 after two seasons. During his time with the Giants, he caught 43 passes for 602 yards and one score on 93 targets. In last season's final regular-season matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles Golladay recorded his lone touchdown.

Fans will probably remember his numbers and his startling ineptitude for years to come when compared to the money he made with the Giants.

Golladay played for the Lions for first four years in the league, surpassing the 1,000-yard mark twice. In 2019, he set career-best totals with 1,190 yards and 11 scores, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. However, things have never really gone smoothly for Golladay and the Giants.

Because of the cap savings, the Giants will have over $50 million to spend on possible free agents. This month will see the entry of quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley in the open market.
