"Mahomes would’ve had 10 flags called" - NFL fans blast referees for multiple missed penalties during Broncos-Browns clash

The Broncos and the Browns played out a fabulous Monday Night Football game but the referees overshadowed a fantastic display with some blown calls. A couple of them came at the end of the third quarter, with both teams suffering from the officials' carelessness.

On a fourth-and-one, Jameis Winston kept the ball and got the first down. The only issue is that an offensive lineman had moved before the snap and it should have been called for a false start. But the referees missed it and what could have been a fourth-and-six followed by a punt instead became a play that kept the drive alive for the Browns.

If the Broncos had reason to be aggrieved on the above call, Cleveland was the party hurt, quite literally, by the officials' miss a few minutes later. The Denver defense pressured Jameis Winston and got him wrapped up behind the line of scrimmage. As he tried to get rid of the ball, another defender came in and initiated a helmet-to-helmet contact. It left the Browns quarterback on the floor with his head protection askew. It should have been a 15-yard penalty against the Broncos.

Instead, it ended Cleveland's drive and fans were left wondering why the penalty was not called, especially when the quarterback's safety was in question. Fans took to X/Twitter, to compare the situation with how someone like Patrick Mahomes might be treated in similar circumstances. Here is a sample reaction from the social media platform.

Others also concurred with the sentiment and said that a penalty should have been called and blamed the referees for blowing the call. Here are some more responses.

"Clear penalty" - one stated simply.
"Jameis out here getting helmet-to-helmet hits while the refs are wearing blindfolds... Can we get some flags, or are they saving them for the holidays?" - wrote one sarcastically.
"These refs are so fucking BAD" - concurred another fan.

Referees get Grant Delpit call right in Broncos-Browns shootout

Even as the officials missed a clear helmet-to-helmet hit on the Browns quarterback, they managed to notice that Grant Delpit needed to be evaluated for a possible concussion after smashing into Myles Garrett's shoulder pad. It was the right decision but fans were left wondering how that could be reviewed and spotted but the contact on Jameis Winston was not. One fan wrote on X:

"so cool how ~the sky~ can yank grant delpit off the field but they were three blind fkn mice when it came to the helmet to helmet on James"

As with most games, the referees got some calls right and some calls wrong and they went against the Browns one time and the Broncos suffered on another instance.
