Russell Wilson will start at 0-0 next season, no matter how many interceptions he throws to wrap up the season. But that may not be with the Denver Broncos.

Speaking on Pro Football Talk PM, NFL analyst Mike Florio kept the door open for a quick end to the Russell Wilson era in Denver:

"There's a chance they [the Broncos] just do the old 'pull off the Band-Aid' in one motion and deal with it and say, 'See you later.' Russ cut or traded [around] June 1st. I don't know that they'll find a trade partner for him, but that's a possibility as well, especially if they're having a hard time getting a coach that really wants to come in and work with Russell Wilson."

If the Broncos don't find a head coach willing to work with the quarterback, it won't be because they didn't give themselves enough time. Hackett was fired one day after losing 51-14 to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas. In his place for the remainder of the season will be senior assistant Jerry Rosburg, according to Broncos Wire.

Will the Broncos look any better with a new head coach this weekend against the Chiefs?

The team had originally offered oft-lauded defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero the position, but he turned the offer down so he could focus on the defense. The team faces the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend and will wrap up the season against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Coming into 2022, many believed the division was the toughest in football. Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Derek Carr, and Russell Wilson headlined the most star-studded cast in a division in the NFL in the eyes of many. Instead, the Chiefs locked up the division at about the same time as in previous years.

After starting 2-1, the Broncos quarterback slipped down the leaderboard as it became clear that the offense had begun sleepwalking through the season. Aside from a 28-point performance against the Chiefs, the team didn't eclipse 25 points all season long. Most games saw the team finish in the teens in terms of points.

The quarterback has thrown for 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions, including three on Christmas Day. Will another mentor be able to fix No. 3, or will the Broncos continue their quarterback carousel?
