Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs have been two of the most talented wide receivers of the 2020s. Hill would like the comparison to stop there.
However, with trade rumors bubbling up, the Dolphins wide receiver is aiming to avoid stumbling into the diva reputation. At least, that is what NFL analyst Mike Florio appeared to be indicating on an October 3 edition of 'Pro Football Talk'.
"He'd been trying to get more money and trying to get more money but also determined not to become that guy, that guy that is so much of a pain in the a** that the team throws its hands up in exasperation and trades the player," he said. [1:19]
"The Chiefs already did that once, and I think Tyreek Hill understands. 'I don't want to be perceived the way Stefon Diggs is now perceived', because I think you get traded once. Okay, it didn't work. You get traded twice. It's you," he added.
To many fans, Stefon Diggs has earned a reputation for putting himself before the team. Diggs was traded from the Minnesota Vikings to the Buffalo Bills in 2020. Then, following the 2023 season, Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans.
Florio appeared to believe Diggs' second trade was the one that turned public opinion against him. Now, Hill stares down his potential second trade.
Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams lead rumors heading into trade deadline window
Tyreek Hill is on trade watch as the Dolphins continue to tread water with Tua Tagovailoa. Already at 1-3 and in last place in the AFC East, the team has a long road back to the top. With even one more loss, fans are bracing for the team to become sellers at the trade deadline.
One landing spot for Hill is potentially the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have lost Rashee Rice for at least the foreseeable future, and Travis Kelce hasn't been the de facto top pass catcher that he normally has been.
Meanwhile, Davante Adams has requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs seemingly would be out of the running as a divisional rival. However, one team consistently mentioned concerning the wide receiver is the Jets, in a reunion with Aaron Rodgers.
For the next month, trade talks and trade targets will be one of the main key talking points in NFL news. For the teams in the running, it is an exciting time. For teams out of the running, it could mean saying goodbye to long-time members of the organization. One can only wait and see what the developments are.
