The 2021 NFL Draft saw many quarterbacks being drafted, and not many of them have proved it yet on the biggest stage. Although Justin Fields has started to show glimpses of his greatness in Chicago, no one else has lived up to their potential yet.
Trevor Lawrence hasn't been good, and Mac Jones has regressed noticeably in his second season in the league. While Trey Lance is still injured, the biggest disappointment has been Zach Wilson, who was the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Zach Wilson hasn't improved much and might have lost the locker room with his comments after the loss to the New England Patriots.
NFL analyst Nick Wright believes Wilson needs to be benched by the New York Jets next week to bring in Joe Flacco or Mike White instead.
Speaking on First Things First, Wright said:
"The Zach Wilson pick. He—just you know, this is my own opinion—never made a ton of sense. You remember that draft? Remember the draft? It was like Trevor Lawrence is no doubt one that made sense to the prince that was promised when the great job ever."
Wright added:
"And then everyone just said, and the Jets are locked in on Zach Wilson to the draft starts at three. And no one ever really knew why they were locked in. He's the guy. He's been awful. We can show you the numbers. He's the worst quarterback in the league for the second straight year."
Wright continued:
"I mean, there's only 32 teams, folks. And he's 31st or 32nd or 33rd or 34th. And everything. Again, only 32 teams. He's not going to be your quarterback next year. I can't believe I'm saying this. But I think Joe Flacco... Wow. Or Mike White... give you a better chance."
Zach Wilson has a passer rating of 72.6 with 1,279 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions in seven games this season. The Jets have played better without him, and it might be time for them to bench him.
Whether or not Zach Wilson will start again for the Jets this season remains to be seen, but he sure has been a major letdown for the exciting New York team.

Justin Fields was arguably the most overlooked player in the 2021 NFL Draft. After having a great time with Ohio State in college, he was still not picked in the top 10, and many teams passed on him.
The Jets drafting Zach Wilson over Justin Fields was a mistake, and it is visible to everyone now. Fields has played exceptionally well for the Chicago Bears with lesser talent around him than Zach Wilson. If Fields was on this Jets team this season, they could have easily made the playoffs.
