Tyreek Hill has been a key focal point of the Dolphins' offense over the last two years. But the wide receiver let the team down in the playoffs this year. Despite his status at the top of the rankings, Mike McDaniel didn't let the wide receiver scoot by without criticism this January. Hill's latest admission about the mid-game callout led Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio to push McDaniel further.

Mike Florio: [00:00:54] My point is this and this is where Mike McDaniel and Bill Belichick would have a true similarity. First meeting of training camp or first meeting of the offseason program. First play that you put up and you rip Tyreek Hill a new one in front of everyone like Belichick did multiple times with Tom Brady.

In other words, Florio pressed McDaniel to set the tone as early as possible, shooting fear into the hearts and minds of Hill's teammates. Belichick would notoriously tear down the biggest star on the team to make players realize that no one is immune from criticism.

What did Mike McDaniel say to Tyreek Hill?

Mike McDaniel has earned a reputation as a quirky, easy-going, representative of the next generation of coaches. Fans and analysts adore him and his unconventional statements at the coaching podium. However, it seems he also has a darker side.

Fox News and FinsXtra shared a clip of Hill speaking on the "Million Dollaz Worth of Game" podcast on Twitter/X:

"The play against Sneed. The Chiefs, everybody see this play against the Chiefs. When the motherf---er slammed me to the floor? He called me out."
"He like, ‘Reek, bro, you’re supposed to be the f---ing best player in the f---ing league, and you got this guy putting hands all over you like that. We pay you all this money for what?’"

Hill wrapped the 2023 season with the highest number of yards in his career. He earned 1799 yards and 13 touchdowns, eclipsing his 2022 numbers by a handful of yards and touchdowns. In 2022, he earned 1710 yards and seven touchdowns.

Despite markedly getting better without Patrick Mahomes than with him, Mike McDaniel saw it fit to call out the wide receiver in the heat of the moment.

Will he call out Tyreek Hill in the cold opening of the Miami Dolphins training camp?
