Sean Payton spent the offseason trying to convince fans that he had found his franchise quarterback in Bo Nix. The Denver Broncos are now 0-2 after two weeks, and it doesn't appear his quarterback is helping the offense.
On Wednesday's episode of "Locked on NFL," hosts Tyler Rowland and Luke Braun shared their thoughts on Payton's team thus far.
[25:17] "I'm pressing the panic button on the Broncos, but it's not necessarily because of Bo Nix," Rowland said. "It's Sean Payton that I'm pressing the panic button on. ... Sean Payton is a guy who went to the booth and should have stayed there. The game has passed him by. And the fact that he peacocked all over the NFL for getting Bo Nix like he duped everybody, to get Bo Nix to fall to where he was."

Rowland went on to talk about Payton's offense and how it doesn't work well with Bo Nix.
"The problem is, the offense has been despicable. Bo Nix looked terrible, and Payton laughed in our faces, saying, 'Haha, I tricked you. I got everything I wanted.' Well, there you go, Payton. You got everything you wanted, and everything's crumbling.
Rowland and Braun agreed that Russell Wilson wasn't the only one to blame for the Broncos' issues.
"What they did with Russell Wilson, what they did with Sean Payton, is taking a chance on a guy who's out of his prime, who the league has passed by, and they're paying for it now. And I can do nothing but laugh at Sean Payton the same way he tried to laugh at the NFL," Rowland said.
Broncos HC Sean Payton took accountability for offensive woes
The Denver Broncos offense clearly has issues, and a Week 3 matchup against the red-hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road won't be easy. In two games, rookie quarterback Bo Nix has completed 46 of 77 passes for 384 yards. He has not yet thrown a touchdown pass.
The veteran coach, who is in the second season with the Denver Broncos, told reporters the offense's issues fall on him.
"Look, I just finished telling the offensive coaches that side of the ball needs to get cleaned up, and that starts with me," Payton said. "We've got to start really looking at who we're asking to do what."
The Denver Broncos issues with Bo Nix controlling the offense may also take the heat off Russell Wilson, who was blamed for the team's woes last season.
