Ja'Marr Chase has been one of the NFL's most explosive wide receivers ever since he made his debut in 2021. On Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens, he provided another example of his monstrously superb route-running skills that have made him an AFC champion and multiple-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler before even turning 25.
In the opening drive of the second half, the Cincinnati Bengal beat Ar'Darius Washington to a pass from Joe Burrow on the logo and outran the rest of the secondary for a 67-yard touchdown:
There was much joy over Ja'Marr Chase's score:
"Ok this is ridiculous," one fan said.
"Chase owns the Ravens," another declared.
"Great play," said another fan.
More of it can be seen below:
"He’s making it look easy definitely a game-changer for the Bengals!" one praised.
"He tuned on the jets," another raved.
"Pay that man!" another wished.
On the booth, analyst Kirk Herbstreit could only marvel at the play, telling partner Al Michaels:
"How special is he when he gets into the open field. This is just next level. Probably the best in the league."
The score was Chase's seventh of the season and Burrow's 22nd, putting the team two scores ahead of their opponents.
Ja'Marr Chase shares advice for benched rookie Jermaine Burton
If Ja'Marr Chase exemplifies the “breakout rookie” archetype, then Jermaine Burton is the exact opposite.
The third-rounder out of Georgia and Alabama was benched ahead of the Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders after arriving late to practice on Friday, then missing the Saturday walkthrough. Still, Chase has nothing but good words for him. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, he said:
"I've talked to Jermaine before -- not for that situation. But at the end of the day, you going to learn from the situations. I had to do the same thing. So, I mean you just learn from your situation until you get what's going on and see the consequences that have been coming. Then you're going to understand and get your head screwed on right."
Ja'Marr Chase even related it to his own experience - being late to a team meeting back in 2021, yet still playing at the Ravens and dominating with 201 yards and a touchdown on eight catches.
As of this writing, Burton has two receptions for 88 yards against the Ravens.
