Much of the story this off-season has been about the intrigue of where Odell Beckham Jr. will land. As it turns out, he might first need to take off successfully. That is something the Super Bowl-winning wide receiver failed to do on Sunday when he caused an issue in Miami. Beckham Jr. was on a plane to Los Angeles, and he was why passengers on the flight had to deplane, causing major inconvenience.Through his attorney, Odell Beckham Jr. claimed that he had fallen asleep without putting his seatbelt on. By the time he had woken up, the plane was back at the gate. Instead of allowing him to fasten his belt and proceed ahead with the flight, he blames the flight attendant for being "overzealous."Ian Rapoport@RapSheetA statement from Daniel Davilier — Odell Beckham Jr’s Attorney:219281839A statement from Daniel Davilier — Odell Beckham Jr’s Attorney: https://t.co/2ofpyHGJ5AHowever, NFL fans did not buy this story and were quick to respond. They highlighted that such an incident would mean a loss of revenue for the company and a loss of pay for the attendant. Here are some of the best responses.Dolphins Rich@DolphinsRich@RapSheet Yeah this story has more holes than Swiss cheese. Flight attendants aren’t looking to delay an entire flight due to being overzealous because someone slept through an announcement to buckle his seatbelt. No doubt other passengers will shine some light on what really happened.1523@RapSheet Yeah this story has more holes than Swiss cheese. This flight attendant would be losing money to do this.20@DolphinsRich @RapSheet Keep in mind, flight attendants get paid for time in the air, not time on the ground. Like, always? Or was this the first time he ever didn't when he always does the other?Doesn't make any sense.90@RapSheet Question: If this was a normal practice, blanket over the head and all, wouldn't he always put his seat belt on first? He has SUCH a good track record. Everyone sees right through this. He doesn't believe he has to play by the rules. It's standard practice that you have to have your seat belt on, trays up, seats upright prior to takeoff31@RapSheet Yea.... I'm sure Odell is free from causing any drama here. Does his lawyer honestly expect us to believe he was sleeping the entire time and didn’t say one comment to the flight attendant regarding the seat belt or anything else?? So, got on the plane, got settled, don’t most people normally put their belt on instantly? If the plane had taxied away, you’d have it on, well should. But based on what the police are reporting, OBJ seemed to be drifting in and out of consciousness, and the flight attendants could not take a chance on a long flight.Tom Pelissero@TomPelisseroFrom Miami-Dade Police on Odell Beckham Jr. being removed from a flight this morning:4151913From Miami-Dade Police on Odell Beckham Jr. being removed from a flight this morning: https://t.co/ieD40w4wkvThey also said that he refused to exit the aircraft, forcing the entire aircraft to deplane. It is seemingly corroborated by an alleged passenger in a tweet replying to the player characterizing this incident as comedy.CG@TheMalibuArtist@obj Forcing us off the plane because you were unresponsive and unruly is not comedy to the hundreds of folks trying to get home dude. Miami are hot in the AFC right now, with Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill busting open defenses, and OBJ joining them might just make them the best. This is not dissimilar to last year when he joined Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp in having a historically productive season, adding an edge that saw them win the Super Bowl.Speaking of the Los Angeles Rams, as per the statement from Odell Beckham Jr.'s lawyer, his baggage was sent to Los Angeles without him. That might mean that a reunion there is also possible. He knows the coaching staff and the playbook, and the Rams desperately need a receiver with Cooper Kupp injured.Potential suitors are not expected to be in short supply for OBJ's services. The biggest challenge for him might just remain to reach the destination peacefully.
