The legal woes surrounding Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill are officially over. Hill's case was due in court on Tuesday morning and the case was dismissed after the Miami-Dade Police Officers failed to appear in court.
The case dates back to an incident on Sunday, September 8, 2024, just hours before the Miami Dolphins' first game of the 2024 NFL season. Hill was pulled over by police and then removed from his vehicle and then detained. He was released in time to take the field but was given two tickets, one for a seatbelt violation and the other for careless driving.
Fans on social media had a plethora of responses regarding the update on this case. One fan in particular said that celebrities tend to get their charges dropped and don't have to face punishment for their crimes, unlike others.
Some people on X questioned the employment status of the Miami-Dade Police Officers involved in Tyreek Hill's detainment. After the incident, calls for an overhaul of the department as well as the police officers to be dismissed were a common thought. Another suspected that the absence of the officers could be seen as an admittance of wrongdoing by the officers.
"So he wasn’t fired," one fan said.
"Lmao @ he didn’t show up. Miami police are cooked," another fan said.
"Funny because they’re all done via Zoom nowadays. Cop showed to my hearing yesterday from his living room," one fan said.
Others weren't surprised that the case was dropped but the fact that the police were absent is what caught some people off guard. It appears that Tyreek Hill can now focus on the remainder of the Miami Dolphins season without worrying about his legal issues.
"Ah, didn’t want to testify of course. What a surprise," one fan said.
"No surprise here. They are hoping @cheetah lets this go and doesn’t sue," another fan said.
"LOL…..justice can sometimes be done in strange ways," one fan said.
Tyreek Hill trolled QB Tua Tagovailoa amidst slow season
The Miami Dolphins have won three straight games which have helped them improve to just one game below .500 at 5-6. Despite getting back on track in the win column, top wide receiver Tyreek Hill has had a quiet season thus far.
Hill had his sights set on 2,000 receiving yards this season. In 11 games, he has 49 receptions for 571 yards and three touchdowns. On Sunday, he had just five catches for 48 receiving yards and afterward had some fun with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The wide receiver re-shared the 'distracted boyfriend' meme on X on Monday that depicted Tagovailoa choosing the throw the ball to Jonnu Smith and De'Von Achane.
"My exact thoughts," Hill wrote on X.
Hill shared a laughing emoji and wrote that he had the same sentiments.
