Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs ground out a hard-fought win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 9. In a game where the Titans' defense stepped up and made life tough, the former MVP was able to do things that not many others could.

The Chiefs trailed 17-9 heading into the fourth quarter but were able to cut the deficit and win the game 20-17 in overtime. With this win, the Chiefs are now 6-2 and are tied with the Buffalo Bills at the top of the AFC.

In the game against the Titans, the Chiefs' running backs weren't able to make an impact. Due to this, Patrick Mahomes threw the ball 68 times, and the NFL world was left stunned by Mahomes' efforts. Here's how social media reacted to Mahomes' historic performance:

Mahomes did play baseball when he was young and his father played in the MLB. Throwing the ball 68 times would have resulted in a decrease in output from other quarterbacks in the league, but Mahomes continuously made big plays. He was excellent in clutch moments and led his team to another win.

Against the Titans in Week 9, Patrick Mahomes had 43/68 completions for 446 yards and a touchdown. He also had six rushing attempts for 63 yards and had a rushing touchdown as well. He has become the first player in history to throw for 400+ yards and a passing touchdown along with 60+ rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Mahomes continues to break records and he seems destined for a legendary career. He has already won an MVP, a Super Bowl, and a Super Bowl MVP. He could add a few more awards this season as well.

Every single campaign, the Chiefs are Super Bowl contenders and a large part of it has been due to Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs quarterback is known as a gun-slinger, but against the Titans, he showed that he can make big plays with his legs when required.

If Mahomes continues to play like this, there is a major possibility that he will win the second MVP award of his career. The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Jacksonville Jaguars next week, and they'll be heavy favorites in that game as well. It will be interesting to see if the Jaguars can find a way to stop the dominant quarterback.
