Bruce Arians takes a shot at Tom Brady while defending Buccaneers OC Byron Leftwich

Bruce Arians defended Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich for team's issues and turned the blame toward quarterback Tom Brady.

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stopped their losing streak in its tracks and have now won two consecutive games to get back to .500 on the season. Now, in a bye week, the Buccaneers will prepare to make a run for the playoffs in the rest of the season and maintain the top stop in the NFC South.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, now a senior adviser to general manager Jason Licht, spoke about the Buccaneers' issues in a recent interview. Arians said that there were a few factors that contributed to the Bucs' offensive woes, including a young offensive line.

He said that the criticism that offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich received was unfair. Stating that nobody will ever call out quarterback Tom Brady, he asserted that the seven-time Super Bowl winner wasn't playing well.

Arians said that when a play-caller isn't finding success in the ground game, that they are more likely to put the ball in the quarterback's hands and let him make a play.

“I don’t think it was fair to Byron. Nobody is going to say that Brady was playing bad, but he was playing bad. We also had growing pains on a young offensive front and we weren’t running well. There comes a time as a play-caller when you’re losing yards running the ball and you say, ‘Forget this, I’m putting the ball in Tom’s hands.'"

He believes that is what Byron Leftwich was doing and it appears that the quarterback's inconsistencies in the passing game was the main issue in the offense.

The Bucs now have rhythm in the running game as rookie running back Rachaad White made a big impact on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks in Munich.

LeSean McCoy says Bill Belichick is just an average coach without Tom Brady

He said that without the quarterback, Belichick is just an average coach. He then compared Belichick to Marvin Lewis and Rex Ryan.

“If you take away Tom Brady, do you know who he is? He’s under .500. That’s who he is. Now that he doesn’t have Tom Brady, he’s like all the other good coaches. The Marvin Lewis’. The Rex Ryans’.”

In his first season away from the New England Patriots, the 45-year-old quarterback and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl.

That same season, Belichick and the Patriots failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2008. It was the same season that Brady had torn his ACL and missed most of the action.

The New England Patriots are 5-4 and currently sit at the bottom of the AFC East division.
