Bank of America Stadium purportedly sells expired chips

The Carolina Panthers' David Tepper era has been an unequivocal disaster. From releases of franchise cornerstones like Cam Newton and Greg Olsen to drafting players who so far have failed to even just meet their potential, the result has been six straight playoff misses and counting, including a league-worst 2-15 record in 2023.

But now a new controversy has emerged: During Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, a fan alleged that one of the concessions stands at Bank of America Stadium had sold potato chips whose expiration date had been around a week earlier.

Anger immediately spread throughout the NFL fandom.

"Ultimate dumpster fire of an organization," one derided.
"Tepper sell the team!!!!" another demanded.
"They just need to go to the CFL at this point," another "suggested."

The Panthers lost 26-3, their second loss to start the season, as quarterback Bryce Young struggled mightily, passing for a measly 84 yards and being intercepted once and sacked twice.

After the game, Carolina coach Dave Canales expressed disappointment at the performance:

"It really just came down to third down again. Offensively, defensively, just not acceptable from a coaching standpoint, from a player standpoint, all of us. ... I couldn't ask this group to play harder than they did. There was great effort on the field. ... Again, just another frustrating day for the whole group. ... We just have a lot to clean up."

Panthers HC Dave Canales met with owner after Week 1 loss at Saints

Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales told reporters on Wednesday that he had met with owner Dave Tepper after the team's 47-10 Week 1 rout at the divisional rival New Orleans Saints and received assurance that his job would not be on the line:

“These are people that I want to make proud of what we’re doing here and what we’re building. So, it means a lot to me to make sure that I connect with him, (Tepper's wife) Nicole, to be able to talk (to) about just the state of our organization, just kind of following up on games. I look forward to that process."

The Panthers stick with the AFC West for their next assignment, hosting the Las Vegas Raiders.
