Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets lost to the Minnesota Vikings 23-17 in Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season. The first of three games hosted in London this season was full of emotion, but it took a while for the Jets to start the engines and be competitive.
Despite Rodgers' heroics, he couldn't take the team to the promised land, ultimately turning the ball over with a couple of seconds left in the fourth quarter to seal the deal for the Vikings.
Kay Adams shared a video of Payton Manning's appearance on her "Up & Adams with Kay Adams" show today. The video showed the two-time Super Bowl champion talking about his 2-3 start in his first season with the Denver Broncos, making it clear that neither Aaron Rodgers nor Jets fans should feel panic if they found themselves in the same position.
"There should not be panic. You know, obviously you always want to have a sense of urgency when you're playing. And, you know, last year just it was kind of a wash, obviously, because Aaron got injured. So this is really the first year."
"And look, you want to have immediate success. And we felt pretty good about our chemistry and kind of the offense we put in in my first year, in 2012 we win the first game, and this is going to be great all of a sudden."
"Like you said, you lose a couple in a row. Had a kind of a rough night down in Atlanta, and then, you know, San Diego, we had them right where we wanted them right down, you know, by by three touchdowns at halftime."
Manning added that the Jets should just keep grinding and the improvements will come. He added that as long as Rodgers was on the field, the Jets "are in good shape."
Analyst said Aaron Rodgers, Jets wouldn't be contenders with a loss to Vikings
While Payton Manning was optimistic about a potential 2-3 start for the Jets, ESPN analyst Mina Kimes wasn't so sure about the Jets' chances to contend with another loss. She said that even though Aaron Rodgers would keep the Jets winning, the team wouldn't be at the same level as the Buffalo Bills or Baltimore Ravens in the AFC.
Aaron Rodgers completed 29 of his 54 pass attempts for 244 yards and two touchdowns. He was intercepted and sacked three times and struggled to move the ball down the field for most of the game. The Vikings took advantage of his inaccuracy today and secured a big win to remain one of the unbeaten teams in the NFL.
