An incident near Joe Mixon's house took place at the start of the week and, while no details point to the Cincinnati Bengals having anything to do with it, it's still too early to discard any possibilities. As a resident, his house was appointed by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office as "part of the crime scene."

New details have emerged about what transpired that night. A new police audio obtained by TMZ Sports shows that Mixon's trainer Sean Pena called the police to inform them that he heard gunshots outside the house. He saw kids playing before and the street was blocked as they were playing.

Here's what Pena told the police during the call:

"One kid was running around brandishing a weapon and he went back to his car and it looked like it was a fake weapon. But then I kept watching, watching, watching and then he was screaming something and he went back to his car and he pulled out another weapon.
"It looked like a Kel-Tec or something and ran up the back driveway of this house that he had been going up and down, and said, 'F*** yeah.' Then all the sudden I heard him running, running down there, and you heard 'Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.'"

Police reports say a juvenile was suffering from gunshot wounds to his foot when they arrived at the scene, but he did not want medical attention by saying that his father was a doctor.

What happened near Joe Mixon's house? Is the Bengals RB in trouble?

Shots were heard just outside his house, but at this point, there's nothing that shows Mixon was involved in the incident. However, a shell casing was found on the back of his house area, which is why the police have registered his house as an area of interest.

Mixon has a cap hit of $12.7 million, and more than half of that can be saved if the Bengals decide to release him. Cincinnati needs all the cap space it can as it prepares for an extension of quarterback Joe Burrow, which is not going to come cheap.
