Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez formed one of the best tight-end duos in the history of the NFL. However, their time as a duo for the New England Patriots didn't last long as Hernandez was charged with multiple murders and was later sentenced.

Hernandez committed suicide in his prison cell in 2017, and his entire saga remains one of the biggest stories in the history of the game. Everyone associated with the Patriots faced a lot of heat after the truth about Hernandez was revealed.

No one commented much about Hernandez, and Rob Gronkowski once got irritated in an interview in 2013 when he was asked about his former teammate. Here's what Gronk said in response to a question asked about Aaron Hernandez:

Nobody knew Aaron Hernandez would turn out to be the person he was. He was a pretty good player for the New England Patriots and was well-loved by his teammates. The way things turned out for Hernandez was quite shocking.

Gronk remained focused on football and continued to play a huge part in the Patriots dynasty. He retired for the second time after last season, but there is a possibility he might return again next season.

Rob Gronkowski could team up with Tom Brady next season

There is a sense around the league that Gronk will be back for next season and we are likely to see him alongside Tom Brady. Brady will be a free agent after this season and is expected to sign with a new team along with Gronk.

The Las Vegas Raiders are interested in signing Brady to replace Derek Carr, and if Gronk also joins him, then the Raiders will have quite an explosive offense. The duo of Brady and Gronk, along with the likes of Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller, Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow will be tough to handle for any defense in the NFL.

Rob Gronkowski could have been back this season, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers haven't played good football, and as a result, the legendary TE wasn't committed to coming back.

However, as stated earlier, don't be shocked if Brady and Gronk pull off another miracle next season and win another Super Bowl together.
