Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara went out to dinner with new head coach Sean Payton on Thursday night. Four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Joe Montana was also present in attendance.

This was the first meeting between Payton and Wilson since the former was announced as the new head coach for the Broncos. Wilson wanted Payton in Denver, and he is now striving to build good chemistry with him.

This past season, Wilson had his worst season as a quarterback in the NFL and the Denver Broncos finished dead last in the AFC West with a poor record of 5-12. They needed a good head coach in order to get back on track, and getting Sean Payton was the best move available for them.

Wilson needed a head coach that can help him get back to his usual self, and Sean Payton has great experience in bringing the best out of a veteran quarterback. He did that with Drew Brees, and Broncos fans will hope that he can do the same with their quarterback.

While there is no doubt that Payton will be a huge upgrade over Nathaniel Hackett as head coach, there is still a lot of work to be done to bring the Broncos back on top.

Russell Wilson has a lot to prove next season

Russell Wilson had a rough start to his career in Denver, and he was heavily blamed for his team's shortcomings. The Broncos had the league's worst offense last season, averaging only 16.9 points per game.

Wilson was to blame for a lot of it, but the coaching didn't help either. We saw some progress from Wilson when Nathaniel Hackett was fired, which was a positive indication, and perhaps Payton will build on it.

Sean Payton is the type of head coach who will treat all players equally and only a strict head coach can bring Wilson back to his best. Credit to the Broncos quarterback that he has already started building chemistry with his new head coach as he himself is aware of all the work that needs to be put in for next season.

Many have already written Russell Wilson off, but Payton has a firm belief that the former Seattle Seahawks quarterback can be fixed. All eyes will be on Wilson as he prepares for a career-defining season ahead.
