The Denver Broncos, led by Russell Wilson, ended their four-game losing streak after winning against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett's job was on the line in this game, but his team got the result.
Wilson had a pretty solid game against the Jaguars, as he threw 18/30 passes for 252 yards along with a touchdown and an interception. In the clutch, Russell Wilson showed up and looked like his old self.
The Broncos quarterback was jubilant after the win in London and credited Hackett for being great throughout the game. Here's what Wilson said after the win in Week 8:
"I think Coach Hackett did a really good job of calling the plays and we got the tempo going against a good young team, the Jags. Got a lot of great players, and so we kind of had to change it up and really kind of put the issue on them. And then we had some big plays..."
"Guys just kept believing the line did tremendous job against that front about our defense was spectacular. As the defense went on to say go make a play, get get get another one for us. And sure enough, they did. So what a team effort and what a gift it was this week."
The Denver Broncos are now 3-5 and head into a bye week. It will give them a good break to talk things around and get their plans right to push for the playoffs, which is their ultimate goal.
Russell Wilson is embracing the pressure
Russell Wilson was under huge pressure after a very poor start to his career for the Broncos. However, he isn't fazed by it and is embracing the challenge. Speaking after the game, Wilson said:
"Well, I wouldn't be here if I could handle the pressure, you know. I kind of enjoy it. You know, it's one of those things that these guys have been awesome to, you know, lifted me up every day, picking me up, their work ethic, me how they come to work every day, no matter what's been going on."
This win against the Jaguars will relieve some of the pressure from both Russell Wilson and Hackett. They have a bye week to improve things further, and hopefully, they'll be able to get on a winning streak.
After the bye week, the Broncos will face the Tennessee Titans in Week 10, and it promises to be a great game.
