Quarterback Ryan Leaf was drafted with the second overall pick by the San Diego Chargers in 1998. Leading up to the draft, the big question was whether it would be Leaf, who played for Washington State, or Tennessee's Peyton Manning, who would be drafted first.

That question was answered when the Indianapolis Colts drafted Manning first and the Chargers, who had the second draft pick, took Leaf. Both quarterbacks had completely different journeys from that point forward.

Leaf signed a four-year contract worth $31.25 million, which included a guaranteed signing bonus of $11.25 million. Due to injuries, poor behavior, and an eventual substance abuse issue, he didn't fulfill his NFL contracts and his career didn't last longer than four years.

His net worth is listed at about $12 million. This is through his NFL contracts and endorsement deals. However, it has been reported that he lost his fortune due to substance abuse issues and legal fees.

Although his NFL career never really took off, Ryan Leaf did become a college football analyst for the PAC-12 Network and ESPN in 2019.

Ryan Leaf has little faith in the Eagles for the playoffs

On Thursday morning, the former NFL quarterback was a guest co-host on NFL Network's Good Morning Football. He gave his opinion on the current number one seed in the NFC: the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ryan Leaf said that when he looks at the Eagles, he sees a lot of similarities to the 2021 Tennessee Titans. A dominant team all regular season, Leaf thinks their strength will wear off when it comes to the playoffs, and they could be done after just one game.

"I have a little bit of a feeling that this is very similar to the 2021 Titans team. In that they are going to be the best team in the conference, they're going to get that week off, the rust from Jalen Hurts if he doesn't go the last few weeks. And, then some snot-nosed kid like Joe Burrow comes into Nashville and takes down the number one seed."

Leaf said that he sees Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, if they make the playoffs, get a win in the Wild Card round and then head to Lincoln Financial Field to defeat the Eagles.

While that may be an unpopular opinion, it definitely isn't far-fetched when it comes to the National Football League. Crazier things have happened when it comes the playoffs and this season might see more of that.
