Los Angeles Rams wide receiver DeMarcus Robinson was arrested early Monday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence. This was after Sunday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to California police, Robinson was driving over 100 MPH on U.S. Route 101, going northbound around 5:00 a.m. During the traffic stop, officers found Robinson to be "under the influence." He was arrested a few miles away from the team's training facility in Woodland Hills.
This morning, Rams coach Sean McVay addressed Robinson's situation. Per Rams senior writer Jourdan Rodrigue, McVay and the team are in the process of gathering information.
Rodrigue posted on X:
"Sean McVay says the Rams are in the process of gathering information about Demarcus Robinson’s arrest and release on suspicion of driving under the influence on Monday. He has not made a decision about Robinson’s status but expects to over the next day or so."
The Rams face the New Orleans Saints this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET. There could be a chance that Robinson doesn't suit up.
DeMarcus Robinson is on pace for his best NFL season
DeMarcus Robinson has been an NFL wide receiver for eight seasons. Drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, Robinson played the first six seasons of his career with the Chiefs.
Robinson then joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2022 before signing with the Los Angeles Rams the same year on a one-year deal. He re-signed with the Rams last offseason for another one-year deal.
Robinson has been a solid wideout in his career, but never anything spectacular. He's never had over 500 receiving yards or five touchdowns in a single season.
This season, Robinson has a chance to have a career year in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He is currently at 26 receptions for 371 yards and four touchdowns. He is on pace for 40 receptions, 593 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. He would set career-highs in yards and touchdowns.
Robinson could be derailed from a career year if he is suspended or sidelined for a certain period of time given his ongoing legal situation.
