Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton has officially addressed trade rumors that surrounded his team. There have been rumors for a few months that the Broncos were interested in trading wide receiver Courtland Sutton.
While speaking to reporters on Monday morning, Sean Payton was asked if his team was actively trying to trade him. He admitted there were teams that the Broncos had conversations with but nothing advanced.
"Probably in the last 3 months multiple teams have called about Courtland Sutton." As for SF, "We didn't get nearly as far down the road as may have been reported." - Sean Payton

It was rumored that the San Francisco 49ers were one team who had contacted the Denver Broncos. That was clearly before the 49ers knew if Brandon Aiyuk would re-sign or if they needed to look for a wide receiver elsewhere.
Payton also told reporters that he didn't think it was necessary to comment about every call the Broncos front office receives about their players. Courtland Sutton is under contract with the team through the 2025 NFL season. This season, he will make $13 million and $13.5 million next year.
Sean Payton remained non-committal on Broncos QB2
Before their third and final preseason game, the Denver Broncos announced that rookie quarterback Bo Nix would be the starter in Week 1. When it comes to depth at the position behind Nix, coach Sean Payton has yet to announce it and he has not given any insight on who it may be.
Zach Wilson, who the Broncos acquired through a trade with the New York Jets, is an option. As is Jarrett Stidham who finished the 2022 season as the starting QB for the Las Vegas Raiders. Payton told reporters that he will figure it out in the coming days.
"I'll settle it and keep you guys posted."-Payton said
Although Sean Payton won't reveal his plan for the backup QB role, he did reveal to reporters that he is concerned about Bo Nix starting on the road.
The Broncos will travel to Seattle for Week 1 and deal with the unfriendly confines which is known to provide a loud environment for away teams. Payton then said that Nix should be relatively used to the noise after playing in some tough collegiate matchups.
