Shannon Sharpe sends Patrick Mahomes warning to rest of NFL

Patrick Mahomes already has two MVP awards, two Super Bowl rings and two Super Bowl MVPs in just five seasons as a starter. The scariest part of all that is that he might get even better.

Sometimes quarterbacks don't enter their prime for a little while. NFL analyst and former Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe believes that's true for Mahomes.

Sharpe believes the Chiefs could have had another Super Bowl had they started Mahomes right away and that they can easily get several more. Here's what he said on "Undisputed:"

"You heard Joe Burrow say, 'My window is always open.' This is what I know. I don't believe Patrick Mahomes has stepped one foot into his prime. Let that sink in for a second. He hasn't even gotten to his prime yet."

He continued:

"He hasn't set foot in his prime yet, so there's a chance over the next six years... is it far-fetched to think they could be in another three Super Bowls?... Brady and Manning didn't win their first regular season MVP until they were in their 30s. Patrick Mahomes has two and he's only 27."

If Mahomes hasn't entered his prime, there might not be much hope for anyone in the next several years, especially anyone in the AFC. As long as Andy Reid and Mahomes are a duo, they're going to be a threat.

How many Super Bowls can Patrick Mahomes win?

Tom Brady won an absurd seven Super Bowl rings, more than any other NFL player in history and more than any franchise in history. Catching him will be nearly impossible.

Though it's not fair to make this comparison, Mahomes' Super Bowl wins will inevitably be compared to Brady's, so the question is: can he catch him?

Probably not. Winning five more Super Bowls is an incredibly tall task. Mahomes would have to get a lot of breaks like Brady did and have unreal longevity. If Mahomes plays until he's 38, which is reasonable and very likely, he has 11 more years left. Can he win five of the next 11 Super Bowls? Sure, he can.

Will he? Probably not. Winning a Super Bowl is hard, and winning that many in that time frame is nearly impossible to expect.
