CJ Stroud put all the speculation about his health to rest on Tuesday, as he returned to practice. This time, however, he wasn't just handing the ball to running backs. Instead, he threw the football for the first time this offseason.

DeMeco Ryans sounded the alarms last week when he said Stroud was feeling general soreness, which prevented him from throwing. Davis Mills took first-team reps until further notice, while fans wondered how much longer their starter would be out.

On Tuesday, Houston Texans reporter Cody Stoots shared a short video that showed Stroud finally throwing the ball at practice.

The general feeling was that they should have waited longer before making any statement regarding this situation.

The Houston Texans won the AFC South for a second consecutive season in 2024, with CJ Stroud leading them to the postseason in a sophomore year that was more difficult, given that opposing defenses knew his game and the offensive line wasn't the best.

Stroud finished the year with 3,727 passing yards (nearly 400 less than in 2023), 20 touchdowns (three less than last season) and 12 interceptions (seven more than in his rookie season), but it was still enough to lead the Texans to the postseason.

They were eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round, following a complex season that saw wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell suffer season-ending injuries.

Colts newcomer has clear message about facing CJ Stroud, Houston Texans

Cam Bynum joined the Indianapolis Colts on a four-year, $60 million contract in March and is already embracing the divisional rivalry with the Texans. During a conversation with Kay Adams on May 23, the Colts safety shared his thoughts on facing CJ Stroud and Co. in Week 18.

“I’ve heard (about the rivalry) and, especially just from guys and just talking to guys on both teams, they’re saying ‘Yeah, that’s the game that’s like – that’s the one where everybody’s energy is crazy,"' Bynum said.
"Super lit, trash talk, everything, just because we know that that’s the one that’s up for the division. And it's smart they put it at Week 18 because they know that's going to be the game that decides it all.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars might have something to say about it, but Bynum thinks the AFC South will be a two-team race.
