"So corny", "Acting like a 10-year-old" - NFL fans roast Jaire Alexander for pregame speech to teammates about Justin Jefferson

NFL fans are not impressed with Jaire Alexander.

The 41-17 win by the Green Bay Packers over the Minnesota Vikings relied upon an impressive performance by Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander to keep Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson in check. The superstar pass catcher ended the game with a single reception for 15 yards — five Vikings players had more yards than him.

Jefferson had torched the Packers' secondary for 184 yards and two touchdowns in nine receptions back in Week 1, so Green Bay knew that keeping him at bay would be massive for their winning chances. After all, they could have been eliminated had they lost the rematch, but they absolutely stomped their division rivals to get their fourth straight win.

Jefferson's weak performance was noted by many as a sign of how great Jaire Alexander performed in Week 17. He was fired up because of comments made the week before the game and wanted the NFL world to know who was going to prevail in that matchup.

But a fresh pregame speech from Alexander right before the game started sparked controversy on Twitter. The star cornerback is seen putting emphasis on how the defense should play Jefferson and he's clearly putting a target on the receiver's back.

NFL fans were not impressed by Alexander's commentary, stating that he cared too much about defending the star receiver because he was burned in Week 1, and that he should focus on winning the game instead.

Jaire Alexander locks Justin Jefferson: NFL fans not impressed by cornerback

Alexander did have a nice game against Jefferson, but it's a lie to say that he was the sole one responsible for it. For most of the game, the Packers sent help on his way to double-cover Justin Jefferson (a smart strategy, by the way) and it made his job much easier.

This was not Jefferson's worst game of the season based on his receiving yards. During a Week 3 game against the Detroit Lions, he finished with six targets, three receptions and just 14 yards. It should be noted, however, that he already has 10 games with at least 100 receiving yards this season.

Considering his average with the Packers, Justin has over 100 receiving yards per game. The cornerback, on the other hand, has been one of the best in the league this season, with five interceptions and 14 passes defended.

They might play against each other in the playoffs again.
