Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are in a position to make the playoffs after starting the season with a 3 - 6 record. However, Stephen A. Smith still blames the Packers star for letting former Packers wide receiver Davante Adams go to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Smith commented on the matter on "First Take" and went off Rodgers for letting Adams reunite with former college teammate, quarterback Derek Carr. He said:

"I blame him to some degree for Davante Adams walking out the door, because when you got the best wide receiver in football, you're supposed to be one of the all-time great quarterbacks. You got to make sure they keep that brother come hell or high water."

He continued:

"That's the number one weapon. Can't let him leave for Vegas. I know it's hard to be at Lambeau Field. Then you got nothing to lean on but cheese. But the bottom line is you still can't let him get to Sin City. You got to find a way to keep him right there at Lambeau Field."

Adams was traded to the Raiders in March last year and was later given a five-year, $140 million-dollar contract. Months after the blockbuster trade, he explained that the Packers offered him more money but said it was less about the money.

Adams said:

“There’s much more that goes into it. And family is a big part of it for me. I had the choice and the choice was for me to come here and raise my family on the West Coast and come out here and have some fun in the sun.”

Rodgers couldn't have done much to convince Adams to stay with the Packers. In their eight seasons together, Aaron Rodgers and Adams were among the top duos in the NFL.

In all, he had 622 receptions for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in 108 games together. As of now, both players are having seasons going in opposite directions.

Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams having polar opposite seasons

Rodgers' season looked bleak for with the Packers without Davante Adams on the team. However, Green Bay are now in a position to make the postseason after winning their last four games. A fifth straight win in Week 18 over the Detroit Lions could see Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Adams and the Raiders aren't making the postseason, but he did have a stellar first season with the team. The receiver broke the Raiders' record for the most receiving yards in a season with 1,443 yards and counting. However, he might not be playing with Carr next season as the quarterback was benched in Week 17.

We'll see if Aaron Rodgers can make the playoffs and if Adams has another quarterback throwing at him in Las Vegas next season.
