Super Bowl-winning defensive end Chris Canty isn't accepting any excuses over Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals suffered an upset 38-33 loss to the Washington Commanders on Monday to fall to 0-3 on the season.
It was the team's second surprise defeat as Cincinnati fell to the New England Patriots at home in Week 1 in a stunning upset. After the loss, Canty spoke on "UnSportsmanLike" on ESPN Radio and said Burrow had to win that game for the Bengals which he didn't do.
“When your quarterback has a chance to go win the game, he has to go win the game," Canty said. "Joe Burrow didn’t do that. Jayden Daniels did. That’s the problem I have. The Cincinnati Bengals have a very specific formula for how they’re going to have to win games.

"They’re going to have to be led by the offense. How do I know that? How they spend money. The Bengals are top five in spend on the offensive side of the ball relative to the rest of the league. They’re 22nd in cash spent on defense. News flash, the defense for the Bengals ain’t gonna be as good as the offense. The offense is gonna have to win the day."

Although Burrow did go 29 for 38 for 324 yards for three touchdowns and didn't throw a pick, Canty believes the blame still goes on the quarterback. Burrow and the Bengals offense did struggle early on, and despite many analysts blaming Cincinnati's defense, Canty said he doesn't want to hear any excuses.
“I’m tired of all the excuses for Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow let Joe Burrow down. Joe Burrow let the offense down," Canty said. "Joe Burrow let the team down. Great stats, he’s had all of these touchdowns, no interceptions. What did he do when the game was in the balance?”
It's an interesting take from Canty, as Burrow did play well, but it still wasn't enough to get the win for the Bengals.
Joe Burrow praises Jayden Daniels after Week 3 loss
Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals season could be over after just three weeks.
The Bengals are 0-3, as the Washington Commanders went on the road and took home the win. The Commanders were led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown.
After the game, Burrow heaped praise on Daniels for the way he played.
“They played great on offense today. Jayden played unbelievable,” Burrow said (via NBC). “He played great. I told him that after the game. Congrats to him. Big-time performance.”
The 0-3 Bengals will now go on the road to play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in Week 4.
