The Minnesota Vikings and Sam Darnold were supposed to easily defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars today. The Jaguars were without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence and have one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
However, the Vikings trailed the Jaguars 7–6 at the end of the third quarter, partly struggling due to poor quarterback play from Sam Darnold.
Darnold has completed 20-of-31 passes for 201 yards for no touchdowns and an eye-popping three interceptions in the fourth quarter. All three of Darnold's interceptions came on targets to Justin Jefferson.
Fans were furious with Darnold for making many costly plays and reacted on X, formerly Twitter.

With Darnold's poor performance, some fans called for the Vikings to bench him.

"Sam Darnold cannot be serious right now. Its actually time to start looking at benching him," one fan tweeted.
The Vikings drafted rookie J.J. McCarthy in the first round of this year's draft, and fans anticipate his return.

Sam Darnold signed a one-year contract worth $10 million with the Minnesota Vikings this off-season.
He was expected to compete with rookie J.J. McCarthy for the starting spot, but McCarthy suffered a season-ending injury in the pre-season.
Before today, Darnold had been having a career year, with many thinking he's having a Geno Smith-like rejuvenating season. Darnold has completed 69.5% of passes for 1,900 yards, 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions in eight games.
The Vikings are in second place in the NFC North with a 6-2 record but are in danger of losing to the Jaguars.
