Zach Wilson's stints with the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos did not yield expected results. The quarterback, second pick in the 2021 draft, failed to establish himself as a starter in the NFL, and is now a backup for Tua Tagovailoa in the Miami Dolphins.
Wilson had three years as the starter in New York before one year as a backup in Denver. His career has been so underwhelming that he has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns.
Fans were surprised by the quarterback's comments during the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp. Entering his fifth year in the league, Wilson told reporters during a press conference that this was the first time "he's hearing he's late on some throws."

"Lol. There is no way this is true, right?" Asked one skeptical fan.

"That's interesting. I wonder what Sean Payton was saying about Zach", another fan wrote.
"What were Salah and co telling this kid? Massive indictment on that coaching staff, they didn’t even let him know what the issues were?" was a third opinion.
Former NFL scout compares Zach Wilson to Giants' first-round quarterback Jaxson Dart
New York Giants fans had a reason for hope after the 2025 draft. The Giants moved up to select Jaxson Dart in the first round, with the quarterback from Ole Miss not expected to play in 2025 with Russell Wilson signed through free agency.
Dart is considered a long-term project, with his development being a key issue for Brian Daboll's coaching staff in 2025. However, not everyone is on board with the franchise's idea. Former Jets scout Daniel Kelly compared Dart to Wilson, which left Giants fans concerned about the future:
"Jaxson Dart is like Zach Wilson in New York all over again —only this time on the Giants," Kelly wrote.
Although the Giants had to move up to pick Jaxson Dart, they did not use their high draft pick as the Jets did with Zach Wilson.
