Zach Wilson and the New York Jets entered Sunday as surprising contenders at 5-2. They left with a painful loss to the New England Patriots and a stinging reality check. In the defeat, Wilson tossed three interceptions.

Former quarterback and NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky lit into the young Jets quarterback. Here's what he said on Get Up:

"If I was in Zach Wilson's quarterback room right now, this is what I would say to him. It's time to grow the fudge up, dude. Time to grow up, dude. You're not in the Mountain West anymore."

Orlovsky believes that Zach Wilson hasn't yet matured from being a college quarterback. He believes that the 5-3 Jets need him to quickly improve so they can continue to surprise people in the AFC East.

Dan Orlovsky went on to say that he can relate to struggling as a quarterback. However, for Wilson and others, it's more than just their jobs at stake when they struggle:

"Gary Kubiak called me over as a young quarterback one time and said, 'You got to understand, man, that when you have that ball in your hand, you have everybody else's job in our building. Livelihoods. Not just yours. It's everybody.'"

He continued:

"There's a difference between carelessness and aggression. There's a difference between confidence and ego. Right now, you play with such ego, such carelessness, such recklessness with the football. And there's moments in that game you sit there and go: 'That's what it looks like. There's that second-round talent.' But these decisions are unbelievably reckless."

He also believes that the young quarterback might be doing too much:

"You don't have to do this anymore, Zach. You are a talented enough player and there are 70 snaps, a game. This means you have to grow up... And guess what? At some point, your organization is going to look at you. And I get that you're young and I get that you're talented. They're going to say you ain't the guy."

The Jets have contended this year, perhaps despite their quarterback. If that persists, then the organization might be forced to look at other options than the second overall pick in last year's draft.
