Former New England Patriots players Michael Bennett and Julian Edelman believe the team could have won the Super Bowl in 2019. They said Antonio Brown being cut took the wind out of their sails.
The Patriots signed Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $15 million in early September. However, Brown had allegations of sexual and personal misconduct levied against him.
A week later, more allegations came to light, as he allegedly sent intimidating text messages to one of his accusers. Following the allegations, the Patriots cut Brown after just one game.
Had Brown stayed in New England for the season, Bennett believes the team would have won. He also praised Tom Brady for how he handled the entire situation.
“He was so good, man. He really is a good player. Tom tried everything. Tom was just like ‘I’ll drive you to work. Do you want a place to live. You want my trainer? You want my food? Just come to work and do what you’re supposed to do,'" Bennett said.
Despite Brady doing everything in his power to keep Brown on the field, the off-field stuff became too much for the Patriots.

Antonio Brown explains why his relationship with Tom Brady fell apart
Although Antonio Brown's time with New England was short, after Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, he recruited the receiver to Tampa Bay.
In their first year together, Brady helped lead Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl. Yet, in the offseason, Brown was negotiating a new contract, when he claimed Brady called his agent to curse him out about trying to get more money.
"After we get the ring in [2020], the next year, I'm the last guy that signed," Brown said on Million Dollaz Worth of Game, via CBS Sports. "My agent, Ed Wasielewski, is getting called, cursed out by Tom Brady over 'Why is he pushing back for the contract for scraps?'
"Imagine if you heard that, the same guy that brought you in to win a ring, the same agent he told you to hook up with to get the deal, is now telling me, the guy's calling him ... cursing him out about scraps of a contract."
Brown ended up signing a one-year deal with the Buccaneers. But, during the season, the star receiver walked off the field in what was his final NFL game.
Brown finished his career recording 928 receptions for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns.
