Once the Aaron Rodgers deal becomes official, the Jordan Love era will begin in Green Bay. Heading into the season, some will be skeptical, others nervous and some excited. No matter how one feels about the upcoming season, comments made by a former rival of the team will heighten those feelings considerably. Here's how retired Patriot Jason McCourty put it on Good Morning Football:

"On one end, you have LaFleur saying, 'All right, let's temper our expectations.' But for me, that almost feels impossible. ... We are bringing in Jordan Love and all we've heard this entire time is how excited they are to have him there. So the expectations are through the roof because we saw what LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers were able to do."

Will Jordan Love reach the playoffs in 2023?

He continued, explaining that if one wants to cut ties with No. 12, his replacement better be good:

"Yes, they weren't able to bring home a Super Bowl trophy. But at the same time, we saw some of Aaron Rodgers' best work throughout his career with LaFleur there as the head coach. So when you push a guy out the door like Aaron Rodgers, then the expectations are going to be through the roof for Jordan Love, no matter what you say."

After years of waiting, playing through high school and college, and everything that came before, everything has been building to 2023 for the quarterback.

By the end of the season, the quarterback will either prove to himself that he belongs in the career he's spent his life working toward, or he could find himself on a very different path.

In other words, he could solidify himself as the starting quarterback for the next several years and by extension open the door for the next decade in the league. Or, he could faceplant and find himself grasping for a handhold as he slips down the hierarchy to the bottom.
