Travis Kelce labels Kadarius Toney an ‘absolute beast’ with Chiefs' new wide receiver gearing up for debut 

As Kadarius Toney is well aware, the Chiefs were buyers at the trade deadline. While some rosters in the NFL got a bit lighter, the Chiefs got a bit stronger. With the former Giants wide receiver now solidly in the clutches of Kansas City, tight end Travis Kelce has begun to get the hype train going. According to CBS Sports, the tight end discussed the addition on the "New Heights" podcast:

"I mean, that guy is an absolute beast with the ball in his hands. I love the routes that he runs. Obviously, his college highlight tape at Florida is second to none. Taking things to the house. I believe he was compared to Tyreek [Hill] when he was coming out."

Toney has yet to truly breakout as a star talent in the NFL. Thus far, the wide receiver has been saddled with injuries. Since Week 10 of 2021, he has only caught six passes and played in three games. Kansas City will be hoping to get a fully healthy receiver who pops in the second half of the year.

The newest wide receiver is still playing on his rookie deal. Drafted last year in the first round, the pass catcher is playing on a four-year, $13.7 million deal that runs through 2024, according to Spotrac. The contract also offers a fifth-year option, should the team decide to stick with him.

His first year was his most lucrative, thanks to a $7.3 million signing bonus. In 2022, he is expected to earn about $800,000. Next year, he will earn $1.9 million. In 2024, he will earn $2.5 million. When it comes to dead cap, the team doesn't save any money by cutting him early, unless they cut him this year.
