Trouble for Zach Wilson as Jets teammates like post slating QB

Zach Wilson is the center of drama in New Jersey

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is reportedly on the verge of doing the one thing a player in his position can't do: lose the locker room. Sunday's horror loss to division rivals the New England Patriots has seen some serious heat come the 23-year-old's way.

Post-game, Wilson was asked if he let the Jets' defense down and he quickly responded with a "no," which was jarring. Wilson completed just nine of his 22 passes for 77 yards and scored three points. Based on the stats, it sure looks like it.

But there is now another layer to Sunday's loss as Dallas Cowboys player Jourdan Lewis posted a clip of Wilson over-throwing a receiver who was wide open. The post was captioned: "You don't owe your defense?". The problem is that two Jets players in Sauce Gardner and John Franklin-Myers both liked the post.

Now, of course, both Gardner and Franklin-Myers have explained themselves and tweeted out their responses.

The next time the trio is in the locker room, it's going to be quite interesting. The Jets' season is still alive as they have a 6-4 record and are just one game behind division leaders the Buffalo Bills.

On Sunday, Zach Wilson and the Jets offense were as poor as it could get. If your defense can hold the opposition to just 10 points, more often than not, you win the game. Sunday was the exception.

The Jets had just 103 total yards with 77 coming from Zach Wilson. New York also punted 10 times and converted just three of their 14 third-down chances. That puts the Jets defense back out on the field with a quick turnaround and the unit did a good job of stifling the Patriots' offense. If only the Jets' offense could score a few points.

Moreover, New York, with Zach Wilson under center, could only manage six first downs for the game. But the quarterback still insists that he didn't let the defense down.

The 10-3 loss was bad for many reasons but then we add in the punt return with seconds left to give New England the only touchdown of the game. That is rubbing salt into the wounds.

Up next for the Jets are the Chicago Bears at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Let's see how the young quarterback returns.
