The Aaron Rodgers-Green Bay Packers era is all but over.

Rodgers wants to leave, the Packers want to move on, the New York Jets want him and Rodgers says he wants to go to New York. The only reason it hasn't already happened is because of the difficulty in finding the right package for both sides.

This means that the partnership between Rodgers and head coach Matt Lafleur is over. The coach was asked about the end of that era in a press conference.

Per Mike Garofolo, LaFleur said:

“I’ve got nothing but love and appreciation for what Aaron has done for so many in our organization.”

He also added that not winning another Super Bowl together is "ultimately disappointing."

With a future Hall of Fame quarterback, LaFleur and the Packers were unable to even get to the Super Bowl, failing in the playoffs quite often. Though it's not at fault for the split happening now, it is a disappointment for probably everyone involved.

What's stopping the Aaron Rodgers trade?

Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay and into New York. Both teams would like that, too. That much has been true since Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show several weeks ago. Why hasn't a trade happened?

Rodgers doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. However, his contract does cause issues. Rodgers has a massive contract for next season, and the Jets can't really afford to take that on.

Discussing who pays what is a big part of this potential trade. Additionally, the compensation hasn't yet been agreed to. The Packers reportedly want a first-round pick and more for Rodgers.

The Jets feel that that's too steep of an asking price for a player who wants to leave Green Bay regardless. The two sides have been at an impasse, but with Rodgers not speaking with the Packers front office, the future doesn't have the four-time MVP returning to Green Bay.

At some point, this trade will be done, but not before both teams have compromised in some way and come to a fair agreement for both sides and Rodgers.
