Vernon Davis made an interesting turn upon his retirement in February 2020 after 14 seasons in the league.

The former NFL tight end bet on himself, making the move to Hollywood. In an exclusive chat with Sportskeeda, Davis spoke about the transition to post-retirement and his journey there.

"It was in the beginning. I wanted to, but I didn't know. It is the unknown that you think about. The unknown causes us to feel as if we don't know where this road is taking us. But then that's when you really rely on your faith and you reach deep down inside and say, 'all right, I'm going to trust the process.'"

"I'm going to keep hope alive, and I know that everything's gonna work out. Because you're so used to it being in a certain situation. And for me, that's playing football for all of my life. Now walking away from the game and doing something totally different, it takes a lot of guts to do that."

The former San Francisco 49ers star also talked about how he began making music, noting that it started while he was with the Washington Commanders.

"The music came from just me just exploring. When I was playing with the Commanders, I started writing poetry, and then from there I was curious to see what it sounded like was an instrumental behind it."

"So I went to my MacBook and started making recording music in the form of poetry, as far as the poetry that I was writing and putting it with the instrumentals. And then, I reached out to a couple of people to come in and help me fine-tune everything and that's where the music came from."

Vernon Davis' leap of faith has paid off since leaving the sport he loved, but he spoke about how difficult it was to retire from the NFL.

Vernon Davis talked about how he made the decision to call it a career after 14 seasons in the NFL. He went through the process of making that tough decision to hang up the cleats.

"When I decided to retire from the NFL, well, I had thought about it. I thought about all the things that I had going on and things that I wanted to do, and at the end of the day, I sat down and I looked at myself in the mirror and I said, 'am I gonna be okay walking away and leaving this game?'
"I did it. It's been about three years now. I'm happy with where I am in life, and I'm excited about the journey to come."

Vernon Davis had a successful 14-year NFL career, becoming a two-time Pro Bowl player and winning a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos. If his Hollywood and music career parallels his NFL career, it will be one that reaches tremendous heights.
