Walter Nolen, the star defensive end from Texas A&M and the Cardinals ' first-round draft pick, has officially signed his rookie contract. He inked a four-year deal worth $19.3 million, according to Spotrac. Nolen’s girlfriend, Tyler Nelson, shared a three-word message on her social media today.

She reposted a picture of Nolen from the Cardinals’ official Instagram page and wrote:

Before heading to the NFL, Nolen had a fantastic outing in the 2024 college football season. The former Ole Miss DT made 48 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, showing why the Cardinals see him as a future big star. He came with a reputation as the No. 1 high school recruit in college football and lived up to expectations.

In April, the Cardinals selected Nolen with the No. 16 pick in the NFL draft. Tyler Nelson was by his side during the big moment and recorded the celebration. In the video, she was heard saying,

“I’m so proud of you.”

The Cardinals showed their belief in him with this new deal, adding a fifth-year option. It looks like the Arizona front office views him as part of their defense for the long haul.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon calls Walter Nolen key to a ‘disruptive defense’

Cardinals are full of hope as they add Walter Nolen to their defensive line. Nolen had a strong run at Ole Miss, a talent that led to some comparing him to NFL star Aaron Donald.

Comparisons of this level are a bit early, but Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon believes his team has drafted a disruptive force. Following the draft day in April, Gannon said,

"We've talked about it a lot. We wanted to have a more disruptive defensive unit. We think we've added players that can help us do that. When we find players that can affect the middle of the pocket, it puts a lot of stress on the offense. Walter is another guy that we think can help us do that."

Nolen joins the Cardinals' defensive line with experienced players like Calais Campbell, Dalvin Tomlinson and Darius Robinson.
