Was Aaron Hernandez on drugs before his death? New report muddies waters surrounding late Patriots star

Former New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez played in the NFL for just three seasons. He quickly went from being a star tight end to headlining world news in the murder case of Odin Lloyd.

The former tight end committed suicide in prison after being found guilty of the murder of Floyd.

Todd Wallack of npr.com, wrote in an article recently that Hernandez had one of the worst cases of CTE and that there was evidence of K2 in his system upon his death.

Wallack wrote:

"That's Dr. Ann McKee, who leads Boston University's CTE Center. The disease can only be diagnosed after someone dies by examining samples of the brain under a microscope. McKee says Hernandez had one of the worst cases she'd ever seen in someone so young.
"He was just 27. Another possible factor is evidence that Hernandez smoked a synthetic drug called K2 in the days before his death. Nora Volkow is director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Volkow says K2 can have dangerous side effects, especially for people like Hernandez with brain injuries."

Aaron Hernandez passed away in April 2017 in Leominster, Massachusetts. He was 27 years old at the time of his death.

Upon committing suicide, Aaron Hernandez left a few letters. He left a letter to his lawyer Jose Baez, his fiancee Shayanna Jenkins and is daughter Avielle Jenkins-Hernandez.

Here is part of the passage he wrote to Baez:

"Well, I wrote this letter following my acquittal and wanted to voice how I felt and let some people whos[e] music helped me get through hard times, know that it did. I just follow my natural instincts and how it guides me. Pros or cons, didn’t weigh them, but I’m sure you’ll let me know your view.
"Besides that, I want you to know you have me forever like you never understood and time will reveal that I’m not perfect but my love and loyalty is like you’ve never seen! I appreciate all your work, time, effort, and never let that slip your mind!"

Here is his letter to his fiancee:

"You have always been my soul-mate and I want you to love life and know I’m always with you. I told you what was coming indirectly! I love you so much and know [you] are an angel. We split into two to come change the world! Your characteristic is that of a true angel and the definition of God’s love!
"This was the supreme almightys plan, not mine! I love you! Let Avi know how much I love her! Look after Jano and Eddie for me — they are my boys (You’re Rich)."

Aaron's letter to his daughter read:

"Daddy will never leave you! I’m entering to the timeless realm in which I can enter into any form at any time because everything that could happen or not happened I see all at once! Never fear me, but love me with all of you! Fear is the only separation between you and I! We are each other — I/you — you/me — there’s no need to fear but what you do unto another will come back around!

The story of the former New England Patriots tight end is sad and unfortunate to say the least.

It's been almost six years since he took his life in a prison cell on April 17, 2017.
