Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets put on a show in their first home game of the season on Thursday, beating the New England Patriots 24-3 to improve to 2-1. It was the quarterback's first game at the MetLife Stadium since Week 1 of the 2023 season when he suffered a season-ending Achilles tear four plays into his debut with the Jets.
Rodgers had a much better day in his second game as a Jet in the iconic arena and was ecstatic about his performance. During his post-game interview with sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung, the 40-year-old spoke about how comfortable he felt in and out of the pocket.
"I felt pretty good tonight. I was doing some things I did as a younger man. You know, as the game's going on I'm going to feel more comfortable moving around a little bit. And there were a couple of times where I needed to extend plays," Rodgers told Hartung.

He credited the Jets' offensive line for their exceptional work in keeping him upright for most of the game. Rodgers said that he felt that some of his passes were reminiscent of his younger days:
"The line did a good job holding up. I extended, hit Conklin on a couple, one to Allen, keep drives going. Sometimes in games like these you need those extra plays. I used to do it a lot when I was a younger player, but it's nice to have that element back."
Aaron Rodgers stats vs. Patriots: QB was in vintage form in return to MetLife Stadium
Aaron Rodgers had his most prolific game as a Jet in the win over the Patriots. He completed 27-of-35 pass attempts for 287 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 18 yards on three carries.
He was sacked only twice and did a stellar job stepping out of the pocket and finding an open receiver downfield every time the pocket collapsed. Rodgers' synergy with tight end Tyler Conklin was on point, as the duo combined for five catches for 93 yards.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Allen Lazard continued his resurgence, finishing the game with three catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.
This is the Jets' second straight win over the Patriots, a feat they last accomplished across two seasons in 2008 and 2009. Aaron Rodgers' form and the defense's stellar performance are good signs for the team as they look to end their 14-year wait for a playoff appearance.
