WATCH: Colts WR Adonai Mitchell share heartfelt moment with his daughter after #52 overall selection in NFL Draft 2024

Adonai Mitchell had a beautiful moment with his daughter

It took way much longer than Adonai Mitchell expected for him to be drafted, but the new Indianapolis Colts wide receiver was responsible for one of the most heartfelt moments of the 2024 NFL Draft - and one that was shared by the Colts as soon as they made their pick.

With his family and his friends watching along as he waits for his name to be called upon, Mitchell gives a little kiss to his daughter seconds before his name is announced on TV, prompting a loud response from his close ones who were with him.

It's always lovely to see the scenes of players getting drafted and changing the lives of their families and even their friends. In Mitchell's case, it took him a bit more than expected, but it doesn't change the fact that, once the name was called, a smile came out of everybody in that room.

Adonai Mitchell to the Colts: Texas wide receiver fell to the second round

Mitchell was touted as a possible late first-round pick with a need for wide receivers from plenty of teams picking in that range, but he fell to the second round. Once the second day started, other receivers such as Ja'Lynn Polk and Keon Coleman were picked, but Mitchell kept falling.

Although his production in college football wasn't as great, with not even 1400 receiving yards playing for Texas, he has a great prototype and he would fit perfectly for a team that needs a wide receiver to work on short passes and contested catches.

Colts wide receiver depth chart

Although Mitchell is the only addition that matters, this group is far from being a problem for the team. Michael Pittman Jr. signed a (deserved) extension, Mitchell can slot into the WR2 role and they also have Josh Downs on the roster who should be the starter alongside the other two.

Alec Pierce will work as the primary backup and as a vertical threat, with Ashton Dulin holding a roster spot as well due to his returning abilities. It's not a star-studded one, but it's a solid receiving group for the Indianapolis Colts
