Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals lose to Chiefs in dramatic fashion
Ja’Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals appeared to be close to bouncing back and getting the first win of the 2024 NFL season against one of their favorite opponents. They entered the final minute of the fourth quarter up by two points while Patrick Mahomes was leading a game-winning drive.
With :03 left on the clock, Harrison Butker entered the game and completed a 51-yard kick to give the Chiefs the second win of the season. Bengals players, specifically Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, looked frustrated following the game. The second half of the game had five lead changes, but the most important favored the defending champions.
Chase had a discreet game, getting four receptions for 35 yards. In the second game that Tee Higgins missed this season, he failed to make an impact and the Bengals leading receiver was Mike Gesicki with seven receptions for 91 yards.
His contract situation will continue to be a recurrent topic in the league until every party come to a resolution. Chase remains a dangerous weapon for the Bengals, but the first two games of the campaign haven’t gone in his team’s favor.
The Bengals will visit the Washington Commanders next Monday, trying to win the first game of the season and enter a good streak.
