Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his much-awaited appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. On a day when the four-time NFL MVP was expected to announce the big decision regarding his future, he did provide many crucial updates.
Rodgers has made it clear that he wants to play for the New York Jets next season, and his chapter in Green Bay is over. The quarterback got completely candid about his situation with the Packers and didn't hesitate in saying how he truly felt.

"The reality of situation, you know, like it is what it is Packers would like to move on. They've let me know that in so many words they love to lead let other people know that in direct words. And because I still have that fire, and I want to play and I would like to play New York. It's just a matter of you know, getting that done at this point."

"I'm debatably the best player in franchise history. What’s not debatable is I'm the longest-tenured Packer in history. Aaron Rodgers is looking forward to Jordan Love and the Packers
Aaron Rodgers understands the gravity of the situation and is pretty much excited to see Jordan Love finally getting his opportunity. Here's what Aaron Rodgers said about the future of the Green Bay Packers:
"I have nothing but love in my heart for every Packer fan and everybody that works the organization I'm just my life is better because of my time again, but but we just got to look at the reality they want to move on. They don't want me to come back and that's fine. They're ready to move on with Jordan. That's awesome."
"He's gonna be a great player. He's a fu**ing great kid. He had a really good year this year, getting better. You know, on the look team. He's got a bright future in front of them. They got a good young team. I got so many great friends on that team that I'm still going to be great friends with."
Jordan Love did show signs of immense improvement this past season as he is ready to become the team's starting quarterback. The Packers will hope that Love turns out like the last two quarterbacks that they have had and help them to win another Super Bowl.
Aaron Rodgers talks about conversations with the Jets
Aaron Rodgers was asked about whether he was involved in trade negotiations, to which the Packers quarterback simply claimed that he is letting the two GMs do their work. Here's what he said:
"Pretty hands off of that, honestly. You know, I've just been focused on working out and, you know, taking care of my business out here, you know, obviously have an agent and, and the GMs have been talking, I'm sure about that. At this point. You know, like I said, it's my intention to play for the Jets. But I'm still under contract with the Packers."
Speaking about his conversations with the New York Jets, Rodgers added:
"We had a nice conversation and I told them, Listen, I'm not ready to make a decision about anything, I want to get back into my workouts and see how it feels, you know, to really hit it hard for a week of it absolutely working out before that, but to really hit it hard for a week and see if that drive and passion is still there and, then I'll see where we're at and, so again, this is why this is not a decision here that decision"
"I think it was made in my mind whether or not I was able to admit at that point. Really on that Tuesday I wanted to play. And then it was, you know, how is my body feeling? Is it going to be able to hold up. So at this point, as I said, you know, I think since Friday, I made it clear that my intention was to play and my intention was to play for the New York Jets."
As of now, the only thing delaying Aaron Rodgers' arrival in New York is the trade negotiations. The Packers no longer have much leverage over their quarterback, which is why the Jets should be able to wrap up the deal pretty soon.
Aaron Rodgers was pretty close to retiring
Aaron Rodgers stated that he was pretty close to retiring but his 'darkness retreat' helped him to get a better perspective. That retreat helped him to stay motivated and continue playing football, which is what he is going to do with the Jets. Here's what he said:

The trade is widely expected to go through in the coming days as both teams want to shift their attention to free agency as well. With the four-time NFL MVP, the Jets will be Super Bowl contenders, and they will be a tough team to beat next season.
Aaron Rodgers loves the idea of re-uniting with Nathaniel Hackett
The New York Jets brought in Nathaniel Hackett as their new offensive coordinator, and Aaron Rodgers is already loving the idea of reuniting with him. Here's what he said about his former OC:
"There's, you know, a lot of reasons why, you know, the Jets are attractive. But, you know, there's one coach who's been as much to me as any coach I've ever had and he happens to be the coordinator there... It didn't matter at the time for sure. But there was obviously, you know, an interest from them and just from quite a few other teams."
Last season, Hackett was the head coach of the Denver Broncos, but that move did not go well, and he was eventually fired. Nonetheless, it is expected that he would do well in New York next season with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback.
